The North York Rangers organization is pleased to congratulate, U16 players Brayden Gillespie, Spencer Hughes and Michael Cesario for being drafted in the 2021 Online OHL Priority Selection this past weekend.

“I am extremely proud of these three athletes having been selected this past weekend in the OHL draft. They’re all amazing coachable young men that have great families supporting them. I look forward to watching their progress in the future,” NYR U16 head coach Rob Miwa said. “I am also very pleased for the North York Rangers organization being recognized for having a development first, bigger picture approach which ultimately prepares all their young athletes for the next level!”

Brayden Gillespie – Goalie
Selected in the 11th round, #207 overall by the Guelph Storm

“Brayden is an elite multi-sport athlete that also excels at baseball. Already has a ‘pro’ mentality towards his craft with an elite and consistent work ethic,” head coach Rob Miwa stated. “Very athletic goaltender that will have a long career in front of him at the highest levels.” The goalie has been with the organization the last two-years and can not wait to get started with the Storm.
“I am so excited, proud and honoured to have been drafted by the Guelph Storm of the OHL,” Gillespie said. “I would like to thank my family, teammates, advisor, goalie trainers and North York Ranger coaches for all of their help/support. I can’t wait to get started with Guelph!”

Spencer Hughes – Forward

This is not where the hard work stops, it’s where it begins. Can’t wait to get started!”

Michael Cesario – Forward
Selected in 15th round, #291 overall by the Windsor Spitfires

The forward has been with the Rangers organization for the last two-years and is ready for the opportunity.
“It has been a true honour to play for the 2005 North York Rangers AAA team and I feel really proud to have represented such an incredible organization. I want to thank all of my teammates and coaching staff for their support. I would especially like to thank Coach Rob Miwa for believing in me and providing me with the opportunity to play for the organization,” Cesario said. “Being drafted into the OHL by the Windsor Spitfires would not have been possible without him. It is a dream come true. Coach Rob’s dedication to my development as a player and growth as a person over the last few years has been life-changing for me.
